The QR code can be similar to a classic barcode, but has a different shape. It has a square shape and contains a black and white pattern in which information can be integrated.

It is composed of two elements, there are 3 squares in 3 corners of the square and then a pattern that is the code containing the information. Unlike a classic barcode, it can store more information.

This information can be read with any smartphone or tablet camera and with an application to analyze it. 
Simply scan or take a picture of the code and the application will directly process the code and execute the action according to the information contained.

They are more and more used in our daily life. We find them for example at the restaurant to consult the maps on his phone. There are also some on tickets, some posters etc.. They can store website addresses, contact information (phone numbers…), passwords or simply text.

They can allow many actions such as opening a website, Google Maps, watching a video, connecting to a Wifi network, paying by phone, sending an SMS, downloading a pdf document and many others.

The advantage of the QR Code is to be able to access certain information quickly and with a simplified process. For example, in stores, to get product information, you just have to scan the QR Code to get access to the product sheet.

The disadvantage is the security risk since we don’t always know what information we are scanning. It is therefore possible to be redirected to a risky page.
