Historic building and a must-see
The Portes Saint-François shopping center is a shopping center based in the heart of Lausanne above the Flon district. Situated on a high level, it is a historical building, central and extremely visible. The neoclassical architecture, mainly due to its moldings and columns, its structure, its accesses at different levels and its location make it an emblematic building of Lausanne.
Outdoor signage and building wrapping
Our mission was to accompany the shopping center in its facade renovation project, in order to allow them to preserve the character of the building while carrying out the work in accordance with safety regulations and the needs of the workers. Thus, our intervention consisted mainly in proposing a design of tarpaulin of covering of the building site. The goal was to hide the scaffolding while maintaining a pleasant and modern visual and highlighting the brands present in the shopping center.
A discreet, modern and easily identifiable visual identity
We wanted a sober, elegant design that would blend in with the surrounding architecture. To enhance the building while hiding the surface work for a fairly long period. The objective was also to reassure customers that the shopping center would remain open during the work. It was also important to put forward a positive message encouraging them to continue to visit the place to enjoy themselves.
Creation of a trompe l'oeil for scaffolding
We therefore chose a modernized trompe l’oeil that takes up the identifiable elements of the façade, while integrating the mall’s identity elements and important information. One of the challenges was the constant adaptation of a scaffolding in progress. A lot of adaptation and reflection was necessary to offer passers-by a homogeneity and coherence of the whole despite the specificities of structures and volumes. All this in collaboration with the different actors of the site and the printer for the tarpaulins.
