Design : definition
The definition of design is not fixed but it can be presented as a creative intellectual process whose goal is to establish multiple facets of objects, processes and services to respond to various problems: economic, social and environmental problems in particular. It is present everywhere and must be in adequacy with the lifestyles, the values or the needs of the users or the public.Â
It contributes to the creation of spaces, to the communication of visual and sound messages, to interfaces, to the production of products and services by giving them meaning, emotion and identity as well as improving their accessibility or experience.
Design: why, for whom?
It plays an important part in the innovation and humanization of technologies. It allows to work on the aesthetics, the materials used, the shapes and sizes to make a project attractive. It must allow companies to be a source of innovation and progress.
The design attracts the eye of a defined target and requires a better understanding of those who will be confronted with it. In short, an essential step is the analysis of the needs and issues to which the design must respond: ergonomics, responsibility for a mobile application or a website for example.Â
Whether for small or large companies, the importance of design remains the same. It allows them to be more competitive. The design carries an innovation and innovates, an essential movement for a company. Thus, we find its practice in many fields:Â
- communicationÂ
- spaces,Â
- architecture
- furniture,Â
- high technologies,Â
- transportation,Â
- packaging.
Thus, to solve specific problems there are various types of design: space design, object design, industrial design, product design, etc.
The role of the designer:
For its creation, it requires the skills and experience of the designer. The latter observes, analyzes, and listens to the needs of the users and his clients before implementing different creation techniques. He has to look for original answers in order to make all kinds of interfaces dynamic and attractive.
Moreover, he must inscribe his approach in a defined visual identity that he can have created or not, that of the company.
